The Turkish holiday was better than expected. [Memorable experience was] seeing the white-topped mountain at Pamukkale. Worst aspect was lack of legroom on Thomas Cook flights. [Service was] first class – tours, tour guide, coach, hotels all excellent. The half board we paid for in Turkey was genuine, i.e. we had the same choice of food like other hotel guests.’ A Howe, Caterham.

‘Bit cynical at first – but not alarmed! I never thought I was getting myself into something I would regret (as would be the case with ‘time-share’ promotions). Did not actually expect anything to come of it, just filled things in for fun and then forgot all about it. Later… Austrian and Italian Highlights awards better [than expected]. Went on 2^nd one on basis of enjoying 1^st one and other travellers’ recommendation. [Memorable experience was] a spontaneous musical recital in the hotel in Austria (because we had an opera singer and a pianist on the bus) – superb! Out of 8 holidays only one hotel had a poor breakfast. I love the boat rides in Venice, climbing up the tower of Pisa, belly dancing in Turkey, seeing the Eiffel Tower lit up at night. ‘Holiday award turned out to be much better than my wife and I really expected. Worst aspects? Too much to do! Too much to see! Too much to admire! The sunrise and the sunset were breathtaking. We took wonderful photos but my wife distributed these to family and friends without keeping a copy. Excellent organisation. The littlest detail was looked into so that we didn’t face bad surprises. ‘Had little faith in [the promotions before taking part]. Not surprised to win the holiday, it’s usually the lowest of the prizes. But very surprised with the quality of the holiday, was rather doubtful about going on it at first! Yes would recommend Purely Creative scratchcards to a friend. [Turkey holiday award] better than expected. Expected to fly with the cheap airlines so pleased to find out it was Thomas Cook. 2 out of 3 hotels were fabulous. [Worst aspect was] being constantly hassled by shopkeepers, they need to know English do not like it. You could not look, or even glance, at anything and they followed you. [Memorable experience was] the thermal baths in Turkey and the lunches. Exceptional service from European Vacations. Yes would do it again. Our guide in Turkey, Aykut Akur, was wonderful, he looked after us and our welfare, very knowledgeable and very helpful in all aspects. Everything went very smoothly. ‘First took part in a scratchcard promotion for the Italy trip two years ago. It was exciting to take part. We would recommend [Purely Creative scratchcards] to a friend and have previously done so on a number of occasions. The [Spanish cruise and stay] holiday turned out to be much better than expected.  We thoroughly enjoyed all the venues visited and were very pleased to have met up unexpectedly with friends we made on a previous holiday with European Vacations two years ago. [Worst aspect was] we were served fish in various guises on three of the four nights at the hotel. Apart from that the hotel and its position suited us very well. There were many memorable moments on the holiday, but perhaps the most memorable was the visit to the beautiful city of San Sebastian. The level of service from European Vacations was excellent. All representatives of the company were extremely helpful and courteous, which made our holiday all the more enjoyable. We would go on a similar holiday in the future. Really there aren’t any ways in which we think the holiday could have been improved upon, apart from what we previously stated about the food in the hotel. From the outset we thoroughly enjoyed the mini cruise and the very interesting and in some cases diverse and beautiful places we visited. Many thanks for a wonderful holiday. ‘I always love doing competitions. I think they are excellent value and I would recommend them to a friend. The first holiday was to Switzerland and Austria and I said it was the best holiday I had ever had. We were taken as a party to see and do things, i.e. going up a mountain in a cable car, going on the train, visiting a distillery – not just dropped in a strange town to do our own thing. Loved the mountain train ride in the snow. First class service, nothing was too much trouble. The cruise and stay holiday was superb – entertainment on board, cinema, swimming pool, or you could just sit quietly and watch the sea for wild life. ‘The promotional competition rules read well and made everything clear. It was important to know that there was no time-share commitment. The [Italian Highlights award] was definitely better than I could have expected. My visits to Rome and Florence [were memorable experiences] – both wonderful, so much to see and do. The coach drivers, George and Alistair, were excellent. Our guide Michael was first class, and extra helpful when I took ill on the penultimate day and ended up in hospital near Verona for the next two weeks. My son (with learning difficulties) had to travel home on his own with my luggage. The drivers and courier were more than helpful and I am so grateful to them.’ D Robertson, Sleaford.

The couriers and tour guides are concerned about people. I particularly enjoyed travelling on the Alpine Express but I loved Lucerne and Lake Garda and the hotels we stayed in. Excellent [service]. ‘At first I was very sceptical and not sure if I was going to win, and not sure that even if I did I would actually get to go on a trip. Difficult to ring the telephone number and not doubt the fact that I may be wasting my money on the phone call. Right up until I was in Dover I was sure something would go wrong and I would have to turn back. In the town next to the hotel where we stayed there was a little coffee shop where they sold the most delicious cakes! Had never bothered much about competitions or entering any. The Italian Highlights holiday that I went on was a lot better than I had anticipated. In fact I was pleasantly surprised. [Memorable experience was] coming out of the tunnel from Switzerland from heavy mist into bright sunshine, just as our courier, Honey, had said. Couldn’t fault European Vacations, excellent. The coach drivers and courier were really good.  When I got the Italian Highlights voucher I was very sceptical and a bit wary, but the way the holiday turned out I found European Vacations to be very professional in their approach, and the holiday was far better than I had imagined it would be.’ D Jacobs, Sudbury.

[Memorable experience was] the excursion where for first time saw salt glacier with water spring – very beautiful. Excellent. Of course I’d do it again – all the time. We got all the facilities and vegetarian food where expected. I took my brother who is disabled as his right hand side is paralysed and was very well looked after.
